Project 2: The Graphic Design Process

In Wednesday’s class we started working on PROJECT 2: THE GRAPHIC DESIGN PROCESS. The idea behind this project is that not only is it creating a poster ABOUT the Graphic Design Process, but we will be visiting each of the 5 phases throughout the completion of this project:

  1. Orientation / Material Gathering
  2. Analyze
  3. Concept creation
  4. Design development
  5. Implementation

YOU NEED TO BECOME FAMILAR WITH THIS PROCESS! READ IT! UNDERSTAND IT! P. 77-102 in your book!

I want to stress how important it is for you to prepare for the PRESENTATION. I need to see that you based your designs off of your PROPOSAL, which should be based off of your RESEARCH which should be based off of the DESIGN BRIEF (below).

It’s important to remind you that this ENTIRE PROJECT is worth 5 separate grades. (3 assignment grades + 2 project grades)

The Proposal

DUE FRIDAY BY 11:59 PM

Here is WHAT YOU NEED TO INCLUDE in your PROPOSAL, including EXAMPLES of the Persona Profile. Base this information off of the CLIENT MEETING, and the DESIGN BRIEF.

Here is an example of Project Proposal that you can look at. Remember! Your proposal will only contain the info found in Section 1.0, nothing more. Look at the WHAT YOU NEED TO INCLUDE file, to know exactly what I’m looking for.

AGAIN. Grammar, spelling, punctuation are important! Graphic Designers are PROFESSIONALS and you need to learn how to properly write. You are college students, I expect college-level abilities. I WILL mark off for these things.

3 Concepts

These can be sketches, or a description of a few sentences. But the “client” needs 3 to choose from.

 

Project Timeline

  • Proposal: DUE FRIDAY @ 11:59 PM
  • 3 concepts:  DUE MONDAY
  • Thumbnails/Sketches/Comp: DUE MONDAY
  • Final piece/presentation: DUE WEDNESDAY
